Wild Plum (Prunus americana) is Missouri-native, deciduous small tree or multi-stemmed shrub. Wild plum fruit is edible for humans as well as wildlife. It will put out suckers, so be sure to cut those down if you don’t want more Wild Plum trees. I have seen Wild Plums produce fruit around ages 6-7.
It will grow under some dry conditions, as well as drier soils.
